Café Carruá is a new speciality coffee brand, with a strong social purpose, cultivated on farms that have been passed down for generations. We pride ourselves on striking a balance between traditional coffee growing practices and the latest global trends.

Our plantations are located above 1,150 metres in altitude on volcanic soils right on the border between the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, in Brazil.

Why Carruá?

Our brand takes its name from the Arabic word for coffee, ``qahwah`` (قهوة), but spelled in a way that reflects the Brazilian pronunciation. Our family, of Lebanese and Portuguese descent, wanted to pay homage to the Arabic roots of coffee production, reflecting our cultural blend and heritage.

where do our coffees come from?

The Sul de Minas region, located in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, is renowned for its high-quality coffee production. The ideal conditions in this area for producing coffee include a combination of factors such as altitude, climate, soil, and rainfall. Our plantations are situated at an altitude of 1,150 metres, which grants a cooler climate and a more prolonged maturation process, resulting in coffee beans with a higher acidity and complex flavour profile. The volcanic soils near the city of Poços de Caldas are particularly rich in nutrients and minerals and provide the perfect environment for coffee plants to grow and produce high-quality beans. The region also receives a well-distributed rainfall throughout the year, which allows for consistent growth and maturation of coffee trees. These ideal conditions in the Sul de Minas region make it one of the most prominent coffee-producing regions in Brazil and the world.

Connecting women over coffee

Our product is more than just coffee; it’s a lifestyle! We envisage our brand being a staple in the most popular cafés worldwide, frequented by modern women, influencers, and creatives alike. We aim to create an inclusive community that not only thrives online but also in real life. Our coffee is the perfect addition to any gathering, whether it be a casual catch-up or a critical business meeting. We pride ourselves on creating a memorable tasting experience that is worth sharing on social media and beyond, and one that fosters new relationships and opportunities. Our ultimate goal is to connect people from all walks of life through our brand and provide a unique, uplifting experience that goes beyond just a cup of coffee.

sustainability

We understand the importance of sustainability when it comes to coffee growing! Preserving a substantial portion of the native forest on our land, protecting the local biodiversity and water sources, and following the strictest health, safety, and environmental protocols throughout our production process are some of our top priorities. Our operations are guided by sustainable practices from the start to the finish, and we strive to collaborate with like-minded individuals to ensure a future full of opportunities for generations to come.

Quality and tradition

Our coffees are grown, harvested, selected, roasted, and packaged by Agropecuária Santa Ignês, comprising Ouro Verde Farm and Santa Ignês Farm. As proud members of the Permanent Council of BSCA (Brazil Specialty Coffee Association), we have a longstanding heritage of coffee cultivation that spans generations. We meticulously oversee every aspect of the process, from planting to roasting, all on our own farm, to present a unique brew that preserves its original characteristics until it reaches your cup. And with a strong commitment to sustainability, our practices go beyond just minimising our environmental impact, as we also prioritise the well-being of our hardworking team of farmers and workers, as evidenced by our national and international certifications.
